Can I run this alongside a job?
Yes, plenty of coffee carts run part-time and at events. Be aware that commercial use affects your insurance, certainly with a gas bottle and boiling water on board, so declare the use to your insurer rather than finding out afterwards.
What do I need for food hygiene?
You work to a food safety plan, with handwashing, a sink with fresh and waste water, and refrigeration you can monitor. Tell us which country you will be inspected in, because the inspection differs, and we build the unit so you pass it.
What licence do I need to sell coffee on the street?
For a fixed spot you apply to the council for a pitch consent; for moving trade it is usually a roving consent with a limit on how long you can stay in one place. The rules differ by council, so check the specific location before you order.
Which machine fits my trailer?
That depends on your menu, your pitches and the power you will have, and there is no single right answer. Our advisers go through it with you, so you are not piecing it together from forum posts and spec sheets and discovering after delivery that the machine cannot keep up.
How many coffees an hour can I make?
On a busy pitch, around fifty shots an hour is the benchmark people work to. A two-group machine with automatic dosing will hold that; a domestic machine will not. In practice the bottleneck is rarely the machine but the grinding and the payment, so we look at those in the layout too.
Can I make coffee without a mains water connection?
Yes, with a fresh water tank and a pump you are self-sufficient, and a fixed mains connection is possible where the pitch allows it. For planning, count on roughly a fifth of a litre of water per cup, including rinsing the group and steaming milk. Fifty litres is therefore around 250 cups. Waste goes to a separate tank, and you need to be able to empty that as easily as you fill the fresh one.
My generator drops as soon as the machine heats up. How do I fix that?
This is the classic coffee-on-site problem: the machine draws a peak while heating that an undersized generator cannot deliver, and your brew temperature drops with it. The fix is in the rating and the start-up current, not just the number on the data plate. We allow for that peak when we design the build.
How much power does an espresso machine in a coffee trailer need?
It depends on the machine, and the difference between models is large enough that it decides what you can run on a given pitch. That is the wrong thing to work out on your own from a spec sheet: tell us what you want to serve and where you will be standing, and our advisers will match the machine to the supply you will actually have.
