Catering trailers vs. food trailers
Both trailer models are designed for mobile food service, but they differ mainly in their equipment and intended use.
A catering trailer is typically focused on the sale and serving of food rather than on food preparation. It is commonly used on company premises or at private and corporate events such as weddings or birthday celebrations. Since catering trailers usually require more storage space than cooking equipment, they are often more cost-effective to purchase.
A food trailer with integrated cooking facilities, on the other hand, is designed specifically for the preparation of food or beverages. This makes it the ideal solution for markets, festivals, and street food events. In this case, food presentation is often a secondary aspect — however, the layout and focus can always be planned individually with us to suit your personal concept.

Do I need a permit to sell from a food trailer?

What is the maximum speed I can drive with my food trailer?
Germany: The maximum speed for a food trailer is 80 km/h unless the trailer + load weighs less than 3,500 kg, in which case it can go up to 100 km/h.
Netherlands: The maximum speed is 90 km/h if the trailer + load is under 3,500 kg, and 80 km/h if it exceeds 3,500 kg.
France: The maximum speed is 90 km/h for trailers weighing up to 3,500 kg and 80 km/h for trailers exceeding this weight.
Do I need a special driving license to drive a food trailer?
Germany: With a B license, you can tow trailers under 750 kg. If the total combined weight (vehicle + trailer) exceeds 3500 kg, a BE license is required.
Netherlands: With a B license, you can tow trailers under 750 kg, and the combined weight must be under 3500 kg. If it exceeds, you’ll need a BE license.
France: With a B license, you can tow trailers under 750 kg. If the total weight exceeds 3500 kg, you’ll need a BE license.
What should I consider regarding electricity or water connections?
Most trailers come with a fixed electricity connection (220V or 440V). If you choose electric equipment, it will be connected to the power supply. For locations without electricity, you can opt for gas-powered equipment. Additionally, we offer water connections for sinks and other equipment, depending on your needs. We can advise you on the best solutions for both electricity and water based on your business operations.
